How is Yoga Therapy Different from Physiotherapy?

Yoga therapy is the use of yoga postures, breathing exercises, meditation, and other yoga techniques to improve physical, mental, and emotional health. It views the individual as a whole, rather than just treating specific symptoms, and aims to address the root cause of physical and psychological conditions.
Physical therapy, on the other hand, is a form of medical treatment that focuses on rehabilitation and management of physical impairments and disabilities. Physical therapists use exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities to improve mobility, reduce pain, and increase strength and function.
While both yoga therapy and physical therapy have the goal of improving physical health and wellness, physical therapy is often more focused on specific injuries and impairments, whereas yoga therapy takes a holistic approach to health and well-being. Additionally, physical therapy is typically prescribed by a doctor and performed in a clinical setting, while yoga therapy can be done in various settings and is often taught by certified yoga therapists.
